Mandy Moore is facing a devastating loss.

The This Is Us star, 40, shared an update about her “home” on Instagram amid the ongoing Fires on the afternoon of Wednesday Jan. 8.

“This is Altadena. Leveled. My sweet home. I am devastated and gutted for those of us who’ve lost so much. I’m absolutely numb,” she wrote over a video showing scorched and still-burning buildings she passed while driving down the road in the northeast L.A. neighborhood.

It was not immediately clear whether Moore’s personal home was destroyed, but her community has unquestionably been devastated.

She followed her initial Stories post with another Instagram expressing gratitude for her family’s safety and detailing the destruction she witnessed.

“Grateful for my family and pets getting out last night before it was too late (and endless gratitude to friends for taking us in and bringing us clothes and blankets),” she wrote. “Honestly, I’m in shock and feeling numb for all so many have lost, including my family.”

She continued, “My children’s school is gone. Our favorite restaurants, leveled. So many friends and loved ones have lost everything too. Our community is broken but we will be here to rebuild together. Sending love to all affected and on the front lines trying to get this under control.”

Moore had previously shared via her Instagram Stories on Wednesday, Jan. 8 that she and her family had evacuated and didn’t know if their house had survived.

“Praying for everyone in our beautiful city. So gutted for the destruction and loss. Don’t know if our place made it,” Moore wrote, alongside a photo of herself sitting with her son Ozzie.

“Grateful for the kindness of friends that we had a place to land last night. Trying to shield the kids from the immense sadness and worry I feel,” Moore continued.

The actress lives with her husband Taylor Goldsmith, 39, and their kids, August “Gus” Harrison, 3, Oscar “Ozzie” Bennett, 2, and 3-month-old Louise Everett and is just one of tens of thousands of families who had to evacuate their homes.

Moore had recently completed a 6-year complete renovation of the property.

The actress often shared her passion for interior design and the progress on her home project on social media, including an update that it was nearly complete and just receiving its finishing touches in February 2023. Moore’s previous home in Pasadena California was featured on the cover of Architectural Digest in 2018.

The Eaton Fire broke that impacted Moore’s neighborhood started on Tuesday. By late morning on Jan. 8, it had exploded to 10,000 acres.

Four additional fires continue to burn across the Los Angeles area.
